“Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia Linguistica” is a peer-reviewed academic journal (70 points) whose main aim is to disseminate the results of linguistic research covering a wide range of phenomena and issues related to both historical and modern Polish. The journal welcomes texts within the contextual, comparative, general-theoretical, and methodological approaches whose point of departure is research on the Polish language.

We are the spiritual heirs and continuators of the linguistic thought of eminent Polish linguists, such as professors Tadeusz Milewski and Stanisław Jodłowski, the founders of the linguistics community at our University. For more than fifty years, we have been striving to disseminate the results of academic research in the form of a series of publications. We continue the publishing cycle initiated in 1970 at the Institute of Polish Philology of the then Pedagogical University of the National Education Commission in Kraków. Between 1970 and 1997, within the university publishing series entitled Rocznik Naukowo-Dydaktyczny, in the subseries Prace Językoznawcze (vols. I-IX), a total of nine volumes were published. Following a change in the name of the University, the journal appeared in the years 2002-2008 under the new title Annales Academiae Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia Linguistica. During this period, four volumes were published (vols. I-IV). Since 2008, after another change in the University’s name to the Pedagogical University of the National Education Commission in Kraków, the annual has been published to this day as Annales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis. Studia Linguistica.

In 2013, our yearbook ISSN 2083-1765 was included in the ministerial list of scientific journals (part B), currently scoring 70 points, according to the system of criteria and evaluation rules for scientific journals prepared by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. In 2019-2020 it was part of the "Wsparcie dla czasopism naukowych" programme.

The position of the Editor-in-Chief in the years 2011-2024 was held by Stanisław Koziara, together with Krystyna Kowalik (2011–2024) and Ewa Młynarczyk (2019–2024) as Co-Editors. The role of the Editorial Assistants in different years was caaried out by Marceli Olma (2011–2017), Ewa Zmuda (2017–2021), and Magdalena Puda-Blokesz (2018–2024). In 2024, Ewa Młynarczyk became the Editor-in-Chief, with Magdalena Puda-Blokesz as the Co-Editor; in November 2025, Magdalena Puda-Blokesz assumed the position of the Editor-in-Chief. At present, the Editorial Assistants are Agata Wolanin (since 2022) and Krzysztof Waśkowski (since 2024). The academic staff of the Institute of Polish Philology, mainly from the Department of the Polish Language, Cultural Linguistics, and Social Communication, are actively involved in the preparation of successive issues of the journal as volume editors.

We invite linguists from Poland and abroad to publish in our journal. As a result, the published content reflects a wide range of approaches, trends, methodologies, and research schools. The authors who work with us present the results of studies conducted from a synchronic and/or diachronic perspective, taking into account various, including pragmalinguistic, stylistic, cognitive, sociolinguistic, ethnolinguistic, dialectological, onomastic, semantic, translation-oriented, glottodidactic, mediolinguistic, and biolinguistic perspectives. In addition to research papers, a section of the journal is devoted to review studies presenting new publications in the field of linguistics.
