Slogan inscriptions on the banners of the Podhale Association branches in Poland as signs of the highlanders’ identity

Abstract
The subject of the article is the slogans on the banners of the branches of the Polish Highlanders Alliance. These are messages with an ideological and axiological character. Thanks to them, the members of the association express their cultural identity. The aim of the presented study is their linguistic characterization inspired by the method of analysis of genre forms of speech by Maria Wojtak (pragmatic, structural, stylistic and cognitive aspects). The inscriptions on the banners are a testimony to the attachment of the Podhale highlanders to Christian values and satisfy the need for affiliation by emphasizing parish affiliation. The verbal content on the banners allows them to be placed in the category of church and processional banners, which were a prototypical model for the community.
